Dear FLASCO Members,
With great sadness, we share the passing of beloved FLASCO member, Alan Marks, MD, on Tuesday August 10th. Dr. Marks was a longtime member of FLASCO, serving on the Board of Directors for many years, and as FLASCO President from 2013-2015. He was currently serving as FLASCO Foundation President and FLASCO’s Past President Director of Membership.
Dr. Marks’ boundless generosity, compassion, and kindness was deeply felt by all who met him. He was fiercely passionate about serving cancer patients, and was an inspiration to those of us lucky enough to call him a colleague and friend. Forever changing FLASCO, under Dr. Marks’ leadership as FLASCO President, the FLASCO Membership grew from 350 members to 2,000 members. We are thankful for his leadership, guidance, and wisdom. He will be greatly missed by the FLASCO family, the oncology workforce, and his community.
A funeral service will be held at Congregation Schaarai Zedek Friday, August 13, at 10 AM, with a private interment to follow. For those who prefer, the service will also be streamed at www.zedek.org/streaming. The family will sit shiva Saturday, August 14, at 6 PM, at the Monte Carlo (3301 Bayshore Blvd. Tampa, FL 33629), with minyan at 7 PM.
