Dorothy Green Phillips retired as the Executive Director of the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) in 2019, and continued working with FLASCO in a consultant role throughout 2020.

Dorothy began her oncology career with the American Cancer Society, Florida Division, Inc., in 1972, as a clerk typist. She enjoyed a very exciting and interesting career with the ACS. Some of her positions throughout her 30 years with the Society included Director of Meetings and Travel, Director of the State Advocacy Program, Director of the Research Program, Director of a Youth Against Cancer Program, Director of Special Projects, along with many other special assignments. In addition she always served as the staff resource to the ACS President and Chairman of the Board, and was responsible for developing and implementing the Annual Meeting of the Society.

During the last five years of her ACS tenure, Dorothy was assigned to work five hours per week on FLASCO projects.

After retiring from the American Cancer Society, Dorothy developed her own business – Dorothy Phillips Consulting and Management, Inc.

In 2002, the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology contracted with Dorothy’s company to manage the State Society on a part time basis. In 2003, FLASCO contracted with her management company to be the full-time Executive Director for the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology.

In retirement Dorothy staying active in the community as a Rotary Club member, and serving on the board of directors of FLASCO Foundation, Inc. She resides in Riverview, FL and has three children, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
